Robert Barnard

Most of Barnardís traditional mysteries have British locales in which the class system is often treated to friendly mockery (A Corpse in a Gilded Cage). Out of the Blackout saw a departure for a more serious style of writing. Apart from his story collections (The Habit of Widowhood), Barnardís most recent crime novels are psychological studies, frequently sparked off by contemporary issues (The Bad Samaritan, No Place of Safety). Under the pseudonym name Barnard Bastable, he continues to write humorous mysteries with Amadeus Mozart as his amateur sleuth (Dead, Mr Mozart and Too Many Notes Mr Mozart).
