Frances Fyfield

Fyfield is one of Britainís most interesting crime novelists. Her work is distinguished by its brooding intensity, by her profound grasp of her characters and her ability to grip her readers with the sheer quality of her storytelling. Themes are important - a common one is the violence that men do to women. Her latest novel, Blind Date, examines the perils of finding a partner through a dating agency. Without Consent was a chilling investigation of rape. Her seriesí main characters include the on-off team of Superintendent Bailey and the Crown prosecutor Helen West. Another recurring protagonist is Sarah Fortune, a lawyer who first appeared in Shadow in the Mirror. Fyfield, who also writes as Frances Hegarty, grows better with every book.
