Throughout his writing career, Lovesey has won numerous awards for his novels, which encompass the historical mystery, psychological thriller and police procedural genres. In his debut Wobble to Death, Lovesey introduced Sergeant Cribb and Constable Thackeray, for his first Victorian series. Following eight appearances in books, the duo appeared in a number of TV adaptations. Winning a CWA Silver Dagger for Waxwork, the final Cribb, Lovesey went on to win a Gold Dagger for The False Inspector Dew.
Rough Cider was the authorís first psychological thriller. Lovesey alternates this series with police procedurals featuring Peter Diamond. Two of these, The Summons and Bloodhound, won the CWA Silver Dagger.
