Mary Wings

In She Came Too Late, Wings introduced Boston-based lesbian and amateur sleuth Emma Victor. Victor comes into her own as a professional PI in She Came by the Book.

To riotously funny effects Wings turns her sharp wit on a colourful cast of glitterati who become murder suspects after attending the opening ceremony of the Howard Blooming Lesbian and Gay Memorial Archive.

Here, and in She Came by the Castro, the author reveals the social and public politics of San Francisco, which becomes almost as much a character in the series as Emma.

Wings has also written a superb psychological thriller, Divine Victim, set in a remote property in Montana. Full of religious intensity, gradually it reveals the secret past of both the narrator, and the relative from whom she inherited the property.
