Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl

Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl

Danny is a lucky boy. Like many of Dahl’s characters, he is content with little. Having lost his mother at the tender age of four months he lives with his loving father in a gypsy caravan. He tends their gas station, helps in the workshop, and to his delight occasionally gets a chance to fly home-built gas balloons and kites.

When Danny is 9 years old he discovers his father's one vice, poaching, and as a result of his discovery he finds himself the brains behind their plot to try to take all the pheasants from the nasty landowner Victor Hazel's wood. If they can pull this off, Danny will indeed be the Champion of the World.
