Henri Castang, a friend of Hickey’s as well as an experienced policeman, is detailed to investigate by his Brussels bosses. Realising he never really knew the Irishman, Castang sets out to discover the truth, travelling all over Europe to interview the people closest to him . . . but it seems someone is intent on a cover-up, particularly when Castang’s British counterpart is gunned down in Italy.
As the complexity of the trail begins to threaten his own well being, Castang tracks down the enigma of those who know, bringing his customary wit and irreverence to a case that has personal as well as professional interest.
