Talking God

A body dumped in the Arizona desert disturbs Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn’s sense of order. The corpse’s teeth have been stolen and in its white hand is a note with the name of an old, dying Navajo woman.

Jim Chee often makes arrests for the FBI, but Henry Highhawk’s crime is special; robbing graves, the graves of white people.

Gradually the two cases intertwine as murder, assassination plots and terrorism stalk the reservation and call up the mysteries of the Night Chant ceremony where Talking God reigns . . .
