The Cover Artist

Oscar Lemoine is a misfit artist, his medium - the celebrity nude caricature. Elizabeth, his ageing black labrador, is also an artist, a late-blooming exponent of Canine Expressionism. The damaging notoriety of Oscar’s covers for New York’s Lowdown magazine eventually sends him away into exile in the South of France. In her new home, Elizabeth settles down to serious work as Oscar struggles to improve his primitive social skills but while the dog moves from artistic strength to artistic strength, the man succeeds only in falling in love. The Cover Artist is wonderful blending of a mans social ineptitude and a dog’s artistic triumph.
