Night shall overtake us

Rory, Eleanor, Jenny and Francesca are schoolgirls from widely different backgrounds. In the innocent atmosphere of Edwardian England they swear a blood vow of eternal friendship which binds them together strongly enough to survive the burgeoning movement of women’s suffrage and the demands of high society’s Season. But when the untrammelled destruction of the First World War breaks over the world, the old schoolgirl pledge is shattered too. This is a compelling portrayal of the tragedy of war and the betrayal of friendship. Once started it is not easy to put down.
