The Beckett Trilogy (Molloy Trilogy) by Samuel Beckett

The Beckett Trilogy depicts the sad, pathetic, tormented Malone waiting for the throes of death and filling his mind and his remaining time with memories and bitter commentary. Beckett's commentary on the human condition, with all its loneliness, apparent inanity, and futility is both strikingly bleak and grotesquely comic.
Samuel Beckett was born in Ireland. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969.
