Changing Places by David Lodge

It is January 1969: two professors, Philip Swallow from the University of Rummidge in darkest England, and Morris Zapp of Euphoric State in the land of opportunity, do an exchange. As the lifelines and lifestyles of the two begin to intertwine, and enmesh a host of other characters, the professors develop a strong interest in each other’s wives. This wildly funny novel, carefully crafted and plotted, focuses a sardonic eye on the world of the professional academic and on the foibles and pretensions of two societies at the mid-point of change.
David Lodge was born in London.
