December Bride by Sam Hanna Bell
Blackstaff Press 1974

Set in Co. Antrim in a tightly knit Presbyterian community, this novel tells the story of Sarah Gomartin who lives with two brothers, both of whom she consorts with; no one knows which one is the father of her children. Sarah is a very selfish and bigoted woman but there is a sort of innocence about her in the book, and her involvement with both brothers is so lovingly described that her independence and stubbornness seem like gifts.
Sam Hanna Bell was born in Scotland.
