Lamb by Bernard Mac Laverty

Michael Lamb is one of the youngest brothers working in a Home in the West of Ireland. It seems to him a harsh regime of little hope. He escapes when he receives a small legacy from his father, taking with him twelve year old Owen Kane. This is a story of their struggle to experience happiness and love. The novel is as tense as a thriller; the prose is clean and sparse with moments of pure poetry.
Bernard MacLaverty was born in Belfast.
