Introduction

Changing Faces Changing Places: A Guide to Multicultural Books for Children published by iBbY Ireland in 2001 offers our changing Irish society a selection of children’s books that reflect the lives of people from the many different cultures living in Ireland today. The International Board on Books for Young People (iBbY) represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together.

Clare County Library is pleased to offer this collection of books as a promotion for children for circulation to its fifteen branches in turn. There are three copies of each title available for borrowing.

The promotion consists mainly of picture books traditionally aimed at young children. However, the fifty books reviewed present both young and old readers with an insight into the beliefs and ways of life in many different countries. There is also a selection of entertaining and representative poems from around the world.

The Changing Faces Changing Places children’s book promotion is consistent with Clare County Library’s policy of actively promoting reading.
