It was Winston Churchill who was responsible for Clive Peacock becoming a postman. And then, after 35 years of dedicated service, postman Clive is replaced by a sorting machine and given early retirement. But Clive is incapable of giving up his work and he determines that he is going to deliver his final collection personally. So, on his last morning in the employment of the Post Office, he sets off on his trusty bicycle on an odyssey that will make him famous. Clive becomes a national hero, winning respect for his refusal to give up the job he loves.
