Bobby the Bad by Dick King-Smith
Published by Scholastic Ltd., 1995
ISBN 0-590-13278-4

Bobby the Bad is a more challenging read suited to children aged 8 or 9. Bobby Piff is the bad boy in the class who is constantly in trouble with his teacher, Miss Fox. When he unintentionally shoots the Headmaster squarely in the chest with the patent Piff high-explosive imitation-blood bullet, it’s no wonder he becomes enemy number one and has his catapult confiscated.

Bobby is every teacher’s nightmare; he is rude and insulting and he loves practical jokes, going so far as to superglue Miss Fox to the chair.

But even Bobby can change, with a little help from the bearded educational psychologist, or the man with the upside-down face as Bobby prefers to think of him.

Miss Fox even begins to look forward to his arrival each morning, instead of dreading it.

By the end of the story the reader wonders is he really deserving of the name “Bobby the Bad”.
