The Bodigulpa by Jenny Nimmo

The Bodigulpa comes from a spine-tingling series of Shock Shop Stories. A short prologue to the story gives a taste of the gruesome tale to follow.

Daniel’s garden seems like the ideal haven for young boys; untended, full of big leafy plants and best of all it comes complete with an empty greenhouse which functions as Starship Danmatt 1 for Daniel and his friend Matt. That was until Grandpa Green came to stay!

He takes over Daniel’s greenhouse for his horrible, trailing, whispering plants. Not only are his plants horrible but so is he. He is dirty and bad-mannered and Daniel is sure he has something to do with the disappearance of Grandma, of his Auntie Lorna, and her dog, Stanley.

When he admits to Daniel that his Bodigulpa plant is a carnivore it’s clear there’s something very sinister going on.

“A great story, brilliantly told and bursting with horror, laughter and black, black humour!” Amazon
