School Stories

Ed’s Bed by Eoin Colfer
Published by The O’Brien Press Ltd., 2001
ISBN 0-86278-679-7

Ed Cooper is an absolute star. He can do everything: read third-class books, spell “tyrannosaurus” and do forward and backward rolls.

But when Ed goes into first class, tables come along. Poor Ed even tries to sneak his table book into bed in an effort to learn his two plusses. Then, to make matters worse, Ed is faced with an even bigger problem of bed wetting.

Ed’s Bed by Eoin Colfer

His brilliant plan of hiding a wet sheet in the cistern only leads to further disaster.

This story should inspire children to share their worries. Ed realises things aren’t quite so bad when three brains, Mum’s, Dad’s and his own, are working on the problem.

Ed’s Bed is Number 7 in the O’Brien Flyers series and is aimed at confident readers who can take on longer stories. Slightly more challenging but very similar in format to the Panda series, Flyers come with plenty of comic-style illustrations, text in large font and bold print and most importantly, first-class stories for early readers.
