From Pictures to Words - a guide to choosing books for beginner readers: Rhyme

The Karate Princess by Jeremy Strong

Princess Belinda was the youngest of sixteen girls. Her fifteen sisters were beautiful princesses, but not Belinda. Ignored by her father, Belinda’s mother, the queen, decided she needed a tutor. Hiro Ono teaches the princess how to survive and win a husband with her brain – not her looks.

When given the opportunity to marry the local prince she has to prove herself braver than her rival, Princess Samandra, but this is no problem for Belinda, the karate expert.

Six chapters combine to tell the tale of a very uncharacteristic princess. Humour is a common trait in all Jeremy Strong’s books and The Karate Princess is certainly full of fun.
