The Names Upon The Harp is a collection of classic Irish legends divided into the three main cycles of Irish literature as explained by the author. A brief introduction to each cycle provides the background to well known stories of Old Ireland such as Finn and the Salmon of Knowledge or Oisín in the Land of Youth, and some not so well know tales including Bricriu’s Feast and The Enchanted Deer.

A useful pronunciation guide is provided giving separate pronunciation notes for each story with an extensive bibliography at the end.

Like the O’Brien Book of Irish Fairy Tales and Legends, this collection could be just as enjoyable for children to listen to as to read. Striking illustrations by award-winning illustrator P.J. Lynch make this a book to treasure for the whole family.
