Zesty by Sam McBratney

Sam Mc Bratney has written extensively for children of all ages. His picture book Guess How Much I Love You is one of the most successful books in the history of children’s literature. The blundering Jimmy Zest is the hero of several of his books.

In Zesty Jimmy has loads of “good” ideas to act upon with his old friends Shorty, Legweak, Mandy Taylor, Gowso, Knuckles and Penny Brown. It is with these five mates that Jimmy Zest shares his plans and hair-brained ideas in five separate stories.

The ingenuity of Jimmy will appeal to readers in the first story Giant Money-boxes when he sells fillings for April crackers from a collection of goodies he has stored in his desk drawer at school. This is yet another scheme for Jimmy’s mission in life: that is to make money.

The remaining four chapters are just as action-packed, full of foul play, comedy and adventure to make this second collection of stories every bit as good as Jimmy Zest, the first book in the series.
