Have
the Men Had Enough? by Margaret Forster
Published by Penguin, 1989
This
book is a moving story about a once tough and self-reliant lady
who has always been the carer of the family, putting her menfolk
first. Now she is unable to look after herself and her family must
care for her. The story is told from the viewpoint of Grandma's
granddaughter and daughter-in-law and relates the responses of the
different family members to the strain of caring for Grandma, from
the devotion of her daughter to the callousness of one of her sons.
A most memorable, touching story that is funny in parts, this book
makes us think about the way in which we treat our old people. Totally
credible, this is a most enjoyable read.
