The Design a Bookmark Competition run by Clare County Library in association with Children’s Books Ireland was held for the fourth year in a row during this year’s Children’s Book Festival. The competition gains popularity among schoolchildren each year as is indicated by an ever-increasing volume of entries.

Entries were judged by Clare County Arts Officer, Siobhan Mulcahy, Carrie Stafford, Executive Librarian, Patricia Fitzgerald, Assistant Librarian, Sinead Nestor and Fiona Woods, also from Clare County Arts Office.

The 2006 County winners were Ellen Brogan from Clarecastle National School in the junior category and Ellen Roche, Kilmurry National School, in the senior category. Both receive a €50 book token and an award certificate, compliments of Clare County Library and The Youth Library Group of The Library Association of Ireland.

Both winning designs will become Clare County Library’s official bookmarks for 2006/2007 and will be distributed through all its branches.
