Clare County Library will be changing over to a new Library
Management System in the month of February. This new system will allow
us to introduce a wide range of new services, including a new online catalogue
featuring tables of contents, reviews, book summaries, author notes, book-jacket
images, first chapters, and fiction and biography profiles. An Irish language
version of the online catalogue will also be available. Pioneering RightResult™
search technology used by the new online catalogue groups the most relevant
materials on top so patrons quickly get to the specific items they’re
looking for, and, if necessary, the Spell Check option provides the corrections
necessary to launch the intended search.
To facilitate this changeover to the new
system, certain facilities will be suspended while we migrate from the
old system to the new one.
During this period:
- the online catalogue will not be available;
- new reservations/requests for books cannot be made;
- fines cannot be collected
- although the existing fines will stay on the system, fines won't accumulate
during this migration period;
- it will not be possible to become a library member
or renew current membership.
You can of course still borrow books in the normal way,
but please do bring your borrower card with you. The new system will be
rolled out in stages, with new membership and renewal of membership available
in all sites by Wednesday 20th. All services will return to normal on
Wednesday 27th February, with our new online catalogue (see screenshot
below). We thank you for your patience during this transition. |
