Teachers Guide
Treoir Mhúinteoiri

We are very pleased to introduce you to the work of the Education Department of the Clare Museum. We do hope that you and your school will become regular visitors to this state of the art museum over the coming years and that your students will have a chance to benefit from it by exploring the riches of the history and geology of our county.

School visits are available throughout the acedemic year, and teachers should allow at least 1 hour for a visit. Admission is free to all Clare Schools, and bookings can be made by phoning 065-6823382 or by e-mailing

Car/Coach parking for the Museum is at the back of the museum in the car park of the Temple Gate Hotel. There are three spaces for coaches to park, but in high tourist season these may not always be available. A lift is available for any student in need of wheelchair access to the museum.

Please note that at the museum will be open to the public for private visits during school trips. Only one school party however will be allowed to book for any morning or afternoon session to enable maximum access to the displays. Space will be laid aside for children to leave their coats etc and any packed lunches they have. Whenever possible space will be made available for children to eat their refreshments in a room in the museum, or arrangements will be made for the use of the lobby area or - in the summer period - on the patio outside. No food is allowed to be consumed on the museum floors themselves.
