RC Baptism records for the Parish of Tubber (Kilkeedy):
Parish Preist’s preamble

The Tubber parish microfilms are headed by a page of notes made by Fr. James O'Dea, C.C., locum tenens. The notes are undated* and read as follows:

Parish of Kilkeady. Tubber Gort Co.Galway.

1. Baptismal Register 1833 – 1840.
This is a transcription by an unknown hand from registers now lost.

2. Baptismal register 1840 – 1855
Also transcribed from registers now lost.

3. Baptismal register 1855 – 1866
Also a transcription of registers now lost

4. An old register containing register of Baptisms & Marriages.
Baptisms 1870 – 1881 inclusive.
Marriages 1871 – 1886
to which is included a miscellaneous collection of marriages performed in America & Australia & England of people from Kilkeedy parish baptised around 1880 – 1890.

As I am doing locum for the parish priest Father P.J.O'Sullivan I do not know who copied in the baptismal entries for 1833 – 1866. But if he knows I will inform you. I can't explain the gap between 1866 – 1870 in baptismal register.
As far as I can see there is no Liber defunctorum for the period.

Father James O'Dea C.C. (locum tenens)

* Comment from Paddy Casey: these notes of Fr. O'Dea can be very roughly dated in that the PP for whom he was acting as locum tenens, Fr.P.J.O'Sullivan, was PP in the parish of Tubber from 1942 – 1952.
