Kilfarboy Parish
1897, Vol. III (3) Kilfarboy Church Kilfarboy (near Miltown Malbay)—This church was
called “Kellynfearbuygy” in the taxation of 1302-6, disposing
of the tradition that it derives its name “Church of the Yellow
Man,” from the burial of Spaniards drowned in the Armada in 1588.
The east gable is buttressed by a vault having Arms—A chevron,
below it a cross floretty, above it 2 lions combatant. Crest—A
knight in full armour on horseback:— “This tomb was | erected by BRIDGET FITZGERALD | in memory of her husband | GERALD FITZGERALD | who departed | this life Novb. 20th 1778 aged 74 years.” |
