BURKE— 1781. JAMES, of Strasburgh, Ennis. Crest— A chained cat sejant.

Vault against south wall. Crest—A chained cat:—

“Here lyeth the remains | of JAMES BURKE Esqre | of Strasburgh who departed | this life on ye 29th of June | in ye yeare of our Lord 1781 | aged 56 This tomb is | erected to his memory by | his affectionate wife and daughter | in testemony (sic) of their regard for a most affectionate and indulgent | husband and Father | and a | real friend to the poor.”

“I H S. This humble and affectionate | Tribute of Filial Piety was | Erected over the Remains of | FRANCIS McNAMARA of Lispacan | by his son JAMES—With a | Philanthropic hart (sic) he possessed | every Social & endearing | quality & forsook a corruptable (sic) for an incorruptable life 20th March | 1789 Aged 69 years.”

“JOHN DONNELLAN 1791.”
