Kilquane (ancient Church), near Limerick.
Near E. window:—

“Here lieth the body of PHILIP MACADAM, deceased June 24th, 1729, aged 33 years, by whose direction this tomb was erected in memory of his father PHILIP MACADAM, deceased Nov. 26th, 1700, and his Mother ELINOR, deceased June 8th, 1708.”

Kilquane

“This tomb was erectd | by ye parishrs of Kilquan | and St. Munchion in Memory of ye Revd FATHR FRANCIS | NOLAN who was their | Pastor for 21 years and who | departed this life ye 4th day | of Janury 1763 aged 64 years.”

Kilquane [St. Patrick’s] Parish

“HERE LYETH | THE BODY OF | DARBY KEATIN | WHO DEPARTED | THIS LIFE THE | 22 OF DECEMB | ER | 1709.”
There is a skull full-size underneath. The whole is cut on the lintel of an old window.

In the above inscription several of the letters are conjoined, the most remarkable being in the word “departed,” where one letter is made to answer for three, viz.., PAR.—[ED.]
