Valuation Town Plans, 1847 and 1848

These Valuation Town Plan Maps are signed by Richard Griffith (Griffith’s Valuation) and date from 1847/1848.

"Typically, they show public buildings such as court houses, churches and police barracks and industrial buildings where present, such as mills or breweries as well as private habitations".
Source: Frances McGee. “The archives of the valuation of Ireland 1830 – 1865” (Dublin, 2018), page 132.

Provenance: These plans were kindly presented to Clare County Library by Seán Ó Murchadha (1923 – 1995), one of County Clare’s modern pioneering historians. The plans are archived in the Local Studies Centre in Ennis.
