Scariff Library

Scariff Library are running a selection of film workshops over the mid-term break on sound FX recording, pixilation animation, stop motion animation and special effects filmmaking with a final screening event. All workshops are free of charge but numbers are limited so please contact the library to avoid disappointment and book your place.

Junior Graphic Novel Club
Scariff Library at 4pm

Scariff Library are running a Junior Graphic Novel Club for children aged from 7 to 10 years. Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday 2nd November and will take place every four weeks on Wednesdays at 4pm. Come along to chat about the story, the art and the characters. Meetings will last for about 30mins.

When Emily Elizabeth meets a magical animal rescuer who gives her a little red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant, 10-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. With her mother away on business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle set out on an adventure that takes a bite out of the Big Apple.

When Emily discovers her little red puppy named Clifford has grown ten feet overnight, she turns to her eccentric Uncle Casey for help. But when a mad scientist tries to capture the larger-than-life playful pup, it takes the entire neighbourhood to hide Clifford as they are chased across the city. Get ready for the incredible, laugh-out-loud comedy adventure that is BIG fun for the entire family.

Clare Reads 2022 Event
Scariff Library at 7.30pm

The Clare Reads title for 2022 is The Stream of Everything by John Connell. Join in this annual shared reading experience by borrowing a copy from your nearest library or from our BorrowBox app. Bookclubs around Clare will read this book ahead of a special author event in Scariff Library. Join acclaimed author John Connell as he talks about his latest book, The Stream of Everything - a story of a two-day journey in a canoe on the Camlin river during lockdown. The rich biodiversity of the river forms a quiet backdrop to John's much-loved philosophical observations. John will be interviewed by Clare native and Irish Independent Farming Supplement journalist Jim O'Brien. This is a free event and all are welcome. ‘Meet Me There’, a Photography Exhibition by Jennifer Banaghan

Based on the Rumi saying "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there's a field, I'll meet you there", this exhibition examines the universality of nature connection no matter what age, gender or background and how the human-nature relationship can inspire compassion, wisdom and understanding for what is often perceived as 'the other'. Free event, all welcome.

Back for the Future STEM Escape Room – A Science Week Event
Seán Lemass Public Library, Shannon from 3.30pm

BiOrbic, Ireland’s National Bioeconomy Research Centre, brings you Back for the Future, an escape room type game. The theme of the escape room is climate change and players save the planet by solving a variety of science puzzles, guided by an actor and advanced AI. Each game will last approx. 45 minutes and is for groups of 4-6 people. Participants should be approx. 12+ years and accompanied by at least one adult, ideal for family groups with older children.
