Judicial Rents and Land Purchase obtained by tenants in the Meelick area of the Conyngham Estate

Title: Judicial Rents and Land Purchase obtained by tenants in the Meelick area of the Conyngham Estate
Type: Estate papers
Dates: 1884 -1912
Place: Meelick area, Killeely Parish
Source: Conyngham estate papers in the National Library of Ireland
Transcriber/Donator: Matthew Mac Namara

Two lists of tenants of the Meelick portion of the Conyngham Estate have been transcribed from estate papers in the National Library of Ireland by Matthew Mac Namara. Both lists were compiled by the land agent, Marcus Keane. The first list names those tenants who obtained judicial rents at different dates from 1884 onwards. The rents were fixed by a Land Court and were about 80 per cent of the previous rents. The second list records the names of Meelick tenants who purchased their holdings under the Irish Land Purchase Acts. This list was compiled around 1911 or 1912 and includes the townlands in which the holdings were located. We give an alphabetical list of these tenants’ names as well. We are grateful to Matthew Mac Namara for donating these transcriptions.
