Location and Brief Description:
This village is situated on the Shannon about five
miles S. of Killaloe. It derives its name from a bridge of 14 arches
built over the Shannon by one of the O’Briens - 4 of these arches
were replaced by cast-iron arches, each 60 feet open. The village consists
of one street and looks very neat and picturesque.
